ICON II:

Offered in the winter semester, the ICON II Transdisciplinary Classroom allows students enrolled in a 3rd or 4th-year independent studies course to complete their course requirements by participating in a transdisciplinary community engaged broad sustainability based research opportunity.

LEARN HOW TO REGISTER FOR ICON II

Students will learn skills to work in a transdisciplinary environment, problem solve, think critically and diplomatically, while developing solutions to a broader sustainability issue.

Students enrolled in the ICON II Transdisciplinary Classroom are expected to have 36 contact hours with their instructors. The expected timeline is as follows:

  • January
    • Development of KTT skills
    • Introduction to community partner and sustainability challenge
  • February
    • Understanding the audience, and audience analysis
    • Problem analysis and problem specification
  • March
    • Independent and facilitated product development
    • Understanding biases
  • April
    • Independent and facilitated product development
    • Final presentations & reports
